Theme Based Curriculum
The FET theme based curriculum is being designed as a result of the changes to the national curriculum. Academic content, in the form of English grammar, is still very important. However, there is now an added focus of developing the students' 21st century skills.
The lessons contained in this curriculum will be designed to encourage the students to become more independent learners. They will use strategies such as skimming, scanning, using graphic organizers, and monitoring/reflecting on their work. The topics have been chosen to help the students make connections between the academic content and their own lives.
This curriculum should be taught as a stand-alone flexible course although the content should align with the local teachers instruction.
*** The textbook publishers also include the same skills/content but the order of teaching will vary between publisher.
