Our accuracy based curriculum allows students to take the key grammatical concepts learned in their regular classes and apply them in a communicative setting. The focus of these lessons is to cover the objectives in the National Curriculum guidelines.
By using grammar based learning objectives (WALT) students will begin to focus their attention onto the key grammar concepts that are vital for them to succeed in the rigorous grammar focused examinations.
By using specific success criteria (WILF) students will gain independence by becoming aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and thus taking control of their own learning.

Objective Based : Four Part Lesson |
Focus on Key Grammatical ConceptsOur thoroughly designed four part lessons take the students on a learning journey.
A relevant and engaging connect activity is followed by a review of the sentence pattern and grammatical concept. Students then participate in a communicative activity to practice applying the grammatical rule in an oral/aural setting. After completing a simple assessment at the end of the lesson students will know themselves if they have met the success criteria and therefore understood the key concept covered during the lesson. |
Assessment of Key Concepts
Assessment procedure... Under development
We are currently developing a new assessment system that will help students to identify their strengths and weaknesses. We hope that this will encourage our students to become more independent as they will be assessed on 'what they know/what they can do'rather than checking what they don't know.
Under the current system if a student receives a score of '70/100' they may not be aware of how they can improve. If we use a rubric (below) to assess the students then they can easily see what they must do in order to improve and reach the next threshold.
