Hi, my name is Ian Garner and I’m from England in the UK. I graduated from the University of Manchester in the year 2000, trained as a science teacher and then taught Chemistry and Physics for six years before relocating to Asia. I’m now in my ninth year at Dongshan and can definitely say that Taiwan has become my second home. My hobbies include playing the guitar, playing golf, and keeping up to date with current affairs by reading on-line news articles.
I love my job at Dongshan and have a great working relationship with the management and my colleagues. Every year I have the pleasure of teaching the grade 7 students... over 700 of them ! It's wonderful to see them improve their English and grow in confidence over the course of the academic year. They especially enjoy the lessons based on western festivals where I try to give them authentic experiences and really bring my English culture into the classroom.
